Gas Prices Drop To a National Average of $1.80
The price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline has dropped to an average of $1.80 nationwide according to the American Automobile Association (AAA). That’s the 77th consecutive day that the average price has fallen.
Only three states are still selling gas at an average above the $2 mark, Alaska ($2.763), Hawaii ($2.654) and New York ($2.166), according to the report.
The price of diesel fuel has fallen 44 percent since its peak in July of $4.84, and now stands at $2.74 a gallon. Being that most commercial vehicles and trucks use diesel, it should help immensely in reducing the cost of shipping around the nation.
AAA reported that the price of E85, an 85% ethanol blend made primarily from corn, rose 1.2 cents to $1.566 a gallon on average from $1.554.
The figures are gleaned from information from credit card swipes in up to 100,000 gas stations nationwide.
